Special Guests - Soldiers from the Iraq conflict

monoski - bi-ski - learn adaptive skiingFor the eleventh consecutive year, Adaptive Adventures will provide expanded support to this great event. We will again bring certified instructors and volunteers to support the Learn-to-ski, Learn-to-race, and Level 2 race programs.

After a successful 2008, the Adaptive Adventures Team will again take the lead on expanding the cross country ski offerings at Ski Spectacular. Our Team will work -- with Mark Mast from Sun Valley, and John Kremilmeyer, the US Disabled Team Coach -- to expand the cross country aspect of Ski Spectacular. 2008 features expanded learn-to-ski opportunities as well as other offerings including cross country ski groups and a level 1 race. We are looking to do what we do best "recruit participants" to take advantage of increased opportunities to experience cross country skiing. Our goal is to increase participation by more than 50% in 2009! New in 2009 will be the United States Ski and Snowboard Association Level 1 Coaches Certification, and a NorAm (Level II) Race will be conducted as separate event at Copper Mountain Resort December 14-15th.

It will again be an honor for all of Adaptive Adventures staff and volunteers to give back to the soldiers, recently injured in Iraq, who have given so much for our country. We look forward to providing opportunities to participate in sports and recreation at Ski Spectacular and numerous events throughout the year.

Focus: The event features Learn to Ski, Learn to Race, and PSIA continuing education clinics. Additionally, there will be two Level II Races, a Corporate Challenge Race, and a Special Group of Veterans from the Iraq War. This is our seventh year of supporting the event and our fifth season as a "distinguished" partner. Adaptive Adventures is providing learn to ski instructors and over 20 volunteers for the expanded race schedule and cross country programing.

Adaptive Adventures Executive Director Joel Berman accepts an award from Kirk Bauer, Executive Director of DSUSA, and two Wounded Warrior special guests, for execptional merit and effort in helping DSUSA and recently wounded soldiers from Iraq.
