Ian
Lawless
Instructor
As
a leading resource for our Adaptive Cycling Program, Ian Lawless
brings a wealth of experience to the organization. Lawless
was an amateur bicycle racer in Northern California in 1980s
and early 1990s. After experiencing a number of racing-related
injuries, he turned to coaching in 1996. He co-founded the
U.S. Handcycling Federation in 1998 to create opportunities
for cyclists with lower mobility impairments, and has been
actively involved with Wheelchair Sports USA for 5 years.
He is widely recognized as the leading authority on handcycling
in the United States, and has been a US Disabled Cycling Team
coach for 5 years.
Prior
to working with Adaptive Adventures, Ian was a Human Resources
and Information Systems Specialist for the University of California,
Ian's diverse background benefits Adaptive Adventures both
behind the scenes, and in the field where his experience with
adaptive sports & recreation makes our cycling program
a success. Ian also enjoys Nordic skiing, paddle sports and
adventure trips.
